Daniel Garcia Sandoval, a freshman, is on the staff of The Mirror, the award-winning student newspaper and website at Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles. One thing most people don’t know is that he really enjoys playing sports with friends and classmates. A big source of motivation for him is his older brother, who left to serve in the U.S. Navy. That experience changed Garcia Sandoval’s perspective on life and inspired him to work harder in everything he does. He is determined to stay focused in high school and take advantage of every opportunity that comes his way. In his free time, he likes to stay active, spend time with family and challenge himself with new goals. He also values discipline and teamwork, lessons he has learned from both school and sports. Garcia Sandoval hopes to continue growing as a student, athlete and person during his high school years.
