The Boys Basketball Team hosted the Los Angeles Romans in the quarterfinals of the playoffs on Feb. 21.
Van Nuys began the game on a hot streak offensively. Throughout the night their half-court offense was in sync as they scored around the paint and perimeter. The Wolves would have a successful night on the boards, as the team outrebounded their opponent.
Defensively, the quick hands of Ethan Quiambao and Tyree Winborn allowed Van Nuys to create fastbreak points which increased their lead. In the second half, the offense became a bit stagnant. However, the defensive intensity was raised. The Wolves would force the Romans to take tightly contested shots and make inaccurate passes.
By the fourth quarter, Van Nuys would have total command of the lead and advance to the semifinals.
“Two more games to go.” -Captain Tyree Winborn
Final Score: 56-37
NEXT GAME: Van Nuys vs Garfield (at Hamilton High School) on Saturday Feb.24 at 2:00 pm.
