Wolves advance after defeating Taft in a close playoff battle

Wolves focus on improving for upcoming semifinal clash

The bottom line | The Wolves had their second playoff game against the Taft High School Toreadors on Friday, Nov. 15, winning with a score of 59-56.

Highlights |

  • Senior running back and receiver Marlon Figueroa (#11) made a total of four touchdowns throughout the game
  • Senior wide receiver and defensive back Louis Welling (#5) made an amazing catch the first few seconds of the game, putting the first six points on the scoreboard
  • Junior quarterback Carlos Herrera (#7) showed off his amazing offensive skills, making a total of three touchdowns

What’s next | The Wolves’ next task is to play against the Fulton High School Jaguars, playing on Nov. 22 at Monroe High School.

Team Thoughts |  “Overall I think our offense really kept us in this game,” junior cornerback and wide receiver Christopher Gomez said. “It came to the wire this game but thankfully we came out on top. I think we all performed great, just some mistakes that we’ll need to fix at practice this week so we can be prepared for our next game.”

Our thoughts | Luckily, there were very few injuries in this game which will allow for the players to be healthy for the teams semi final game. The Wolves did an amazing job both on offense as well as defense and showed that they are prepared for their next opponent.
