The Bottom line | The girls varsity basketball team had their senior night against the Canoga Park High School Hunters on Wednesday, Feb. 12 winning with a score of 62-5.

Running as fast as she can, senior Camila Santiago approaches the net to shoot. (THE MIRROR | Brian Batres)

Highlights |

  • Senior shooting guard Camila Santiago (#45) made a scoring shot of three points to start off the game
  • Sophomore center Kenya Perrryman (#54) made multiple two point shots proving her strength in her position
  • Senior power forward and shooting guard Karen Grewal (#5) scored multiple two and three point shots from around the court

What’s next | Now congratulating the lady wolves on their big win their next game will be home against South East High School on Feb.18.

Team thoughts | “I think it was a real emotional game,” senior point guard Jazmin Ruiz said. “All the seniors got to play, even new seniors from junior varsity. I thought it was a really fun game shoutout to the Canoga girls. They were really cool. We kinda lost focus but we had a really good game”

Tied in the bunch, senior Karen Grewal defends her teammates.

“I think the team performed really well,” senior power forward and shooting guard Karen Grewal said. “The ball movement was great, most of our shots were going in and everyone has improved a lot throughout the season. Camila Santiago really stood out. She definitely finished her layups which is kinda hard for her sometimes but she did a great job,”

Our thoughts | There were minor injuries throguhout, but most notibly a fall by Santiago, hitting her funny bone. This led to sitting out the rest of the last quarter. In the long run, the team performed exceptionally well against the Hunters.

For the books |

  • 10 wins, 5 losses
  • Valley Mission League
