President Donald Trump’s involvement with China, new alliances with Australia and the UK?
This week, President Donald Trump made headlines again, this time claiming that China “doesn’t want to invade Taiwan,” a statement that raised eyebrows among foreign policy experts. He also reaffirmed U.S. support for the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal with Australia, he insisted that the U.S is going ‘’full steam ahead’’ on the nuclear deal, which reassured doubters over the alliance with Australia and the UK.
The US deal with Australia
Meanwhile, the U.S. and Australia struck an $8.5 billion deal focused on rare-earth minerals such as materials used in smartphones, electric cars and military tech. The goal being to rely less on China’s supply chain and strengthen Western control over critical resources. “In about a year from now we’ll have so much critical mineral and rare earth that you won’t know what to do with them,” president Trump said.
Trump’s mention of Freedom of Speech
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, President Trump said his administration “took the freedom of speech away” from flag burning, which caused national outrage over press rights. This spread quickly on the internet as netizens debated over whether what president Trump said should be taken lightly. Supporters argued that the president was misquoted or being sarcastic. However, seven weeks ago, president Trump did sign an executive order towards those who ‘’desecrate’’ the American flag. Still, the discussions grew louder by the hour.
