The bottomline | The varsity baseball team played against the Chavez High School Eagles and won with a score of 3-2.
Highlights |
The Wolves scored one run in the first, third and seventh inning
Senior catcher Nate Renard was the only player that was able to steal a base during this game
Senior Joaquin Boche led the team in putouts, with eight throughout the game playing first base
Senior Joel Enciso pitched all seven innings and struck out eight Eagles
The team ultimately won by a walk off hit, Enciso had the last at bat in the seventh inning for the Wolves and hit a single to take junior and second basemen Kevin Mata to home plate, sealing the victory
What’s next | The Wolves’ next game will be at home on Saturday April 5, against Fairfax High School. Then on April 9, the team will remain home and play against Arleta High School
Team thoughts| “It was a good win because we struck first, made some mistakes but came back to win with the other team talking a lot of trash,” Boche said. “So to win by a walk off made it even more sentimental.”
Our thoughts| This was a hard fought game since the Eagles were able to catch up to the Wolves in the third inning but ultimately it was not good enough to top the Wolves at home.
