Power 106 Prevails In A High Scoring Affair

October 16,2017

BASKETBALL: Varsity Boy’s and Girl’s showcased their high powered offense.

The annual Power 106 game showed off the 2018-2019 Van Nuys Basketball Teams on Thursday, Oct. 12, inviting guests such as Joe Moses, Tyler Mychal, and DJ E-Man.

The Varsity Girls trailed early on as the height differential was problematic. The Wolves found the rhythm in the second quarter and passed the ball along the perimeter, allowing quality looks at three. With the midrange and three point shot failing, Van Nuys was poised for a late run. However, key shots down the stretch raised Power 106 to a 49-39 win.

The Varsity Boys, led by Captain Ethan Quiambao #2, started off the game at a fast pace. With multiple fast breaks from uncontested layups, Van Nuys took an early lead in the first quarter. However, the athleticism and three point shooting of Power 106 allowed them to regain the lead.

Andrew De La Hoya #2 from JV drained five three pointers for a total of 15 points. Quiambao assisted him as he joined the three point barrage in closing minutes of the game, but Power 106 held the lead in a 63-60 win.
