Van Nuys Dominates North Hollywood

September 7, 2017

SPORTS: Girl’s Volleyball : Varsity cruises to 3-0 victory: JV prevail in a 2-0 win.

Van Nuys Volleyball Girls gained their second victory of the season against North Hollywood on Thursday, August 31.

The JV team began the match on a shaky note, with several issues in passing and receive that caused their inability to generate offense. At one point, the Wolves were trailing 24-15 however a variety of serves from setter Captain Jackie Ngo #4 lifted Van Nuys to a 27-25 victory in the first set. In the second set, the offense was executed efficiently due to precise passing and ball distribution resulting in a 25-19 victory.

Van Nuys Varsity had a slow start with multiple miscues on their offensive and defensive schemes. As the set progressed the offensive tempo was established, led by outside hitter Captain Soana Manu #12 who scored with great efficiency and ease leading to a 28-26 win. Throughout the second set the offense and defense remained consistent, ultimately Van Nuys took full advantage of the service line resulting in a 25-20 win. Building off their offensive momentum in the prior two sets, the offense clicked on all cylinders in the third set and overwhelmed North Hollywood’s defense.

Final Score: 28-26, 25-20, 25-8.
