Van Nuys Wolves varsity basketball team hosted the 5-11 San Fernando Tigers in a conference game Wednesday Jan. 18th.

The Wolves headed into the matchup with a perfect league record of 4-0. The Tigers on the other hand have been struggling with a 1-3 record.

After Tyree Winborn scored 38 points in an amazing win against Panorama High, the Wolves are sitting on an impressive 5-1 home record this season.

The Wolves started started the game with an explosive output on the offensive end, jumping out to a 29-18 lead.

Tyree Winborn continued his stellar play consistently attacking the basket and slicing through the Tigers defense.

The second quarter wouldn’t go as smoothly as San Fernando drained threes all quarter long and eventually closed the lead to 49-41 at the end of the half.

The Wolves came out the 2nd half guns blazing, scoring 31 points in the quarter while holding the Tigers to only 9 points the entire quarter.

Entering the fourth and final quarter, the Wolves held a comfortable 80-50 point lead against the Tigers.

The Wolves easily cruised through the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 104-61, but not before Tyree erupted the crowd with a beautiful no-look behind the back wrap around pass that left the Tigers defense in the dust.

The Wolves extend their perfect league record 5-0, as well as improving to a record of 6-2 at home and 14-7 overall for the season.

The Wolves play on the road against the Canoga Park Hunters Friday night at 7 p.m.
