A Devastating End

November 13, 2017

FOOTBALL: A disappointing end to the season.

In the first round of the CIFLACS playoffs, the Van Nuys Football Team visited Santee on Thursday, Nov. 9.

In the first quarter, Van Nuys and Santee exchanged rushing touchdowns and tied the game at eight apiece. From then on, the Falcons dominated the running game. Santee scored 21 unanswered points as their running backs overpowered the Wolves’ defense. Van Nuys only respond with a late touchdown right before halftime.

The Falcons established good passing in the second half and confused Van Nuys by mixing up the short and long passes. Van Nuys was unable to stop the screens and blocks, allowing huge chunks of yardage per throw. Santee would execute in the red zone time and time again as they increased their lead even more. While the Wolves were unable to maintain possession of the ball, the Falcons anticipated their every move.

Final Score: 56-14
