Wolves Lose Final Game of the Season

FOOTBALL:Varsity Wolves offense gets shutout in loss, as does JV squad

After a hard fought game against the undefeated Division 1 San Fernando Tigers, the Varsity Wolves were defeated once again, losing their final game of the season to the Reseda Regents 20-0, finishing with a disappointing 3-7 record .

Unfortunately, the J.V. team suffered the same fate in a 39-0 blowout, ending the season with a 1-5 record.

The Regents started with the ball immediately scoring off a run six minutes into the first quarter.

Throughout the rest of the first half, the Wolves defense shined, preventing Reseda from scoring.

However, the Wolves offense struggled, being unable to provide the necessary blocking to open up the field.

Halftime saw the Wolves on the losing side of a 7-0 game.

Throughout the start of the third, neither team would be able to get the ball into the endzone to score until the Regents ran the football for their second touchdown of the night with three minutes left in the quarter, extending their lead 14-0.

The Wolves offense was in need of a spark to ignite a comeback, which never materialized.

With a little less than seven minutes left in the final quarter, Reseda scored another touchdown, but was unable to convert the extra point, extending the lead 20-0 and handing the Wolves their seventh loss of the season.

In response to the struggling offense, Lineman Jonathan De Leon said, “I don’t know who those guys were that I played with. Those weren’t the same teammates that I played with all season.”

The Wolves end their regular season, but even with their lackluster record qualify for the California Interscholastic Federation Division 3 Playoffs where they face off against the Hollywood High Sheiks on Nov. 10.

NEXT GAME: Wolves v.s Hollywood on Thursday, Nov. 10. JV at 4 p.m. and Varsity at 7 p.m.
