It’s another big win for the Vannaires.

Under the direction of Ms. Brianne Arevalo, the vocal group competed at the annual Fullerton Jazz Festival on Friday, April 20 at Fullerton Community College.

The Vannaires earned second place in the High School Intermediate Vocal Jazz category and High School A Capella category. They were rewarded with plaques and five Outstanding Musician awards.

“It was wonderful. What I love most about this competition is that we are able to listen to other vocal jazz groups at more advanced levels that we can really learn from and that are really just fun to listen to,”said Clara Pierone, the Vannaires senior soprano singer.

“It’s just so great to be around such wonderful music all day and be able to share it with people who also appreciate music, particularly the genre of jazz.”

Van Nuys High School competed against musical groups from other schools, including Orange County School of the Arts, Arlington High School and Bellflower High School.

The festival also included colleges that competed specifically in the College Vocal Jazz category.
